BACKGROUND:
Mariko Futamura is currently a digital and print designer for Glamour Magazine. Previously she was a designer for Converse, and an art director for Young & Rubicam in Chicago. She has worked for for clients such as Hilton Hotels, Hotels.com, Sears, Kenmore, Craftsman, Diehard, Bonefish Bar & Grill and Einstein Bros. Bagels. Her site for hotels.com's Clay Yourself was awarded site of the day by the Favorite Website Awards.
She graduated in graphic design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, having also studied in London at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. For high school, she attended an international school in Tokyo, Japan.
She has experience in art direction, visual & corporate identity, editorial design, logo & branding, interactive design, TV, product and packaging design, illustration and fine arts.
She gets inspiration for her designs from her travels and the music she listens to. As a designer she always aims to create smart, innovative and lasting design.
